Contents & Features of the product: Let’s read about the ingredients of this serum now.

Ylang Ylang: It is known to treat acne as it reduces the breakouts as well as diminish the blemishes with the anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory components. Ylang Ylang essential oil is stated to boost the regeneration of skin cells, relaxing tight muscles, and at the same time attenuating wrinkles. Because of which it is highly acclaimed for possessing anti-ageing properties. Also, it stimulates the natural radiance and glow of the skin.

Vitamin E: Vitamin E fights off free radicals on the skin, which are a result of daily environmental stressors like unprotected sun exposure and air pollution. Vitamin E also has moisturizing and healing benefits, and helps to strengthen skin barrier function.

Rosehip Oil: Rosehip Oil helps in healing the skin, it is known for its exceptional regenerative and healing properties. It also helps in increasing collagen production and skin elasticity. It also assists in brightening and evening out the skin.

Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5: Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5 is made up of chains of amino acids and can penetrate the epidermis and enter deep into the dermis, where it may help to stimulate collagen production and healthy tissue growth. Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5 also interact with hyaluronic acid and elastin production system. The combine effect of it is increased water content, which reduces wrinkling of skin and enhances the firmness of skin.

Retinol: Retinol is added to your skin care that go on your skin. It boosts the amount of collagen your body makes and plumps out skin, cutting down fine lines and wrinkles.

Vitamin A: Vitamin A helps to speed up healing, prevent breakouts and support the skin’s immune system and it promotes natural moisturizing which means it helps to hydrate the skin effectively, giving it a radiant glow. It assists in promoting and maintaining a healthy dermis and epidermis, the two top layers of your skin.

Geranium Oil: It works as an anti-inflammatory and anti-septic agent making it a beneficial ingredient for use in moisturizers that are meant to treat skin ailments such as excessive oil, acne, eczema etc. Because geranium oil is a natural anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory oil, it actively boosts skin’s health and natural glow. By helping skin stay conditioned, and soothing irritated or breakout prone skin.

Texture and consistency: The texture of this serum is lightweight but it does take a couple of seconds to get completely absorbed into the skin, maybe because of the Vitamin E in it, I guess. The consistency is almost water like, but it is not too runny. It leaves your skin feeling smooth and soft, and does not feel greasy or sticky at all.

Also, this serum is very perfumed, again just like all other Dot & Key products. Smells pleasant of course but not a fan of such heavily perfumed skin care, but to each their own, if you like your skin care to smell very pleasant, then you might like it.

Effects & Experience: The one thing that is common in all Dot & Key Serum are how lightweight they feel on your skin and your skin almost drinks it up as you put them on your face. This one right here is again very lightweight, it does takes a couple of second before it completely absorbs into your skin, but once it does, it almost feels like nothing.

Firstly, this is not a serum that anyone or everyone can apply as their daily skin care routine. This serum is meant for boosting your collagen production. As you age, your skin starts to lose its elasticity. That’s when retinol comes to the rescue. It helps in boosting the collagen, which helps in making your skin tighter, smoother, helps in prevention of fine lines and wrinkles. So, if you are in your early teens, I don’t think you should be using any product that your skin does not require. But for people who have entered in their late 20s can start with advanced skincare. Although this serum is quite beginner-friendly, in my opinion. As there are a lot many retinol creams and serums in the market which are much more potent. But this one right here is a good one to start with, if you want your skin to get used to advanced skin care.

So, to talk about my experience with this, I liked the serum. The ingredient list is good, and all the ingredients present in the serum are great if you are in your late 20s. It did not burn my skin, or irritated it, or caused any breakouts. In fact, it kind of made my skin supple. Also, this serum was a part of my night care routine, and I used it twice or thrice a week. Products with retinol should be mostly used at night, as it helps in repairing your skin overnight. So I did see that my skin felt firmer and had a glow when I woke up in the morning. Also, people with dry skin, try to moisturize your skin well after using this, as it might dry up your skin.

Just one thing that I could do without is the heavy scent present in the serum. It is a very fresh, floral and a rosy fragrance of course, smells amazing, but it is artificially scented and it is not a mild scent which kind of makes me a little uncomfortable. Other than that, the serum worked decently, and it made my face look tighter and radiant. It also has no chemicals and is cruelty free.

P.S – This is not your regular serum for hydration. It targets your collagen production and has retinol in it, which is only suitable if you are in your late 20s or above that age. It is best suited to use at night. And limit your usage of this serum to twice or thrice a week if your skin is not used to such ingredients, until your skin is accustomed to retinol.

Pros:

  • Lightweight on the skin
  • Has ingredients like Vitamin E, Rosehip Oil, Vitamin A, Rosehip Oil
  • Makes your skin smoother and glowing
  • Suitable for all skin types
  • Good purchase if you’re just starting out with advanced skincare
  • Good for people in their late 20s or above that age
  • Cruelty-free
  • Dermatologically tested

Cons:

  • The serum is artificially scented, which can be a little heavy for some people.

Conclusion: This is a decent retinol serum by Dot & Key. Again, a great purchase if you’re just starting out with retinol and looking for something beginner friendly. The list of ingredients are good, has skin healing contents too. It is a lightweight serum. Just make sure you limit to its usage to less than thrice a week. Allow your skin to be accustomed to retinol and let your skin adjust to these ingredients at its own pace. Also, try to avoid using it during day time. Use it on a cleansed face at night, before applying your moisturizer. And try not to mix too many products at once when you’re applying this. Keep your skin care very simple on the night you are applying this.

This made my skin very supple and radiant when I woke up the next morning, every time I applied it.

In my opinion, Dot & Key’s Collagen Restorative Time Reverse Retinol Serum is a decent buy, if you are in your late 20s or above that age. A good product to include in your skin care if you are above 30 or more and your skin is getting mature or is mature, this is a good purchase.
